The first BMW M3 and M4 SUVs are expected to arrive this summer. BMW has announced the details and pricing for the new M3 and M4 xDrive models. The new M3 and M4 BMW M xDrive systems work like the M5. They are available in three models – the 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD, just similar to the M5 and M8.
In any driving conditions, all machinery on the rear wheels is transferred, even if all of its wheels are in the default 4WD mode. When more grips are required, the front wheels receive the entire torque of the vehicle, after which the transmission power is weakened further. In four electric modes, xDrive is generous with power transmission from the front axle.

All-Wheel Drive:
The sport all-wheel drive option and front axle are more than just a rear axle assistant. The xDrive system tends to slide more aggressively, but it uses the front axle to protect the rear and prevent the vehicle from turning, notes BMW Greensboro.
With all-wheel drive, BMW says the M3 Competition and M4 Competition can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, a 0.4-second improvement over their RWD counterparts. That’s despite the AWD cars lugging around an extra 100 pounds of weight.
2WD Mode:
The 2WD condition is the most severe condition, where it causes the front end to continue until the driver switches the car back into the same 4WD mode. However, DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) must be disabled completely so that the 2WD mode can be used. So, it is recommended to use it on the track.
Fastest Versions:
Only BMW M3 and M4 racing models are available in the XDrive system. The M3 Comp and M4 Comp xDrive are the fastest versions of the M3 and M4 available, but both cars accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
Four Wheel Drive:
According to BMW, the four-wheel drive M3 and M4 Competition can reach 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds improvement over the rear-wheel drive. This is when the SUV has an extra £100.
Starting Cost:
The BMW M3 Competition xDrive starts at $ 76,900 and the M4 Competition xDrive starts at $ 78,800, bringing both price tags to $ 995. Two cars are expected to launch in the United States in August 2021.
